Important Security Recommendations
May 13, 2025
Dear members!
We've recently observed a rise in suspicious login activity and data-related risks. To help protect your account and personal information, we’ve prepared a few simple recommendations. Following them will help you stay secure while using IVAO services.
1. Sensitive Info Now Hidden by Default
- Email addresses, dates of birth, and similar data are now hidden on IVAO platforms.
- You’ll need to click “Show” to view them.
- Only click "Show" if you're alone or not screen sharing. This change helps prevent accidental privacy leaks.
2. Password Best Practices
- Use a strong, unique password for your IVAO account.
- Never reuse your IVAO password on other websites.
- You may soon be asked to update your password to meet new security standards.
- Password changes will be required every 6 months going forward.
3. Enable Passkey Authentication (Highly Recommended)
- IVAO now supports Passkey authentication (e.g., YubiKey, compatible devices).
- Passkeys offer a much higher level of security than traditional passwords.
- If you have a compatible device, we recommend setting up Passkey login today.
4. Be Careful While Screen Sharing
- When screen sharing, avoid opening sensitive user data (like personal info).
- Always double-check what’s visible before sharing your screen in meetings or streams.
5. Stay Secure on Personal Devices
- Avoid using cracked or pirated software - it may contain malware or spyware.
- Even on personal computers, if you access IVAO platforms, your system must be secure and up to date.
📢 Reminder: Any data breach involving personal information must legally be reported to the individuals concerned and to the Belgian Data Protection Authority. Your caution matters!
